Bookmans East Entertainment Exchange

Bookmans has been an Arizona institution for over 40 years - a used-media exchange where vinyl sits alongside books, movies, games, and musical gear. Tucson has two locations, on Speedway and on Stone Ave, and both work the same way: they buy, sell, and trade, with an on-site coffee shop and bookstore built into the music floor.

The vinyl runs deep and wide - punk, hardcore, jazz, soul, funk, reggae, dub, metal, and rock, plus new and used CDs, cassettes, and DVDs. They also carry turntables and DJ equipment, host record shows and events through the year, and offer vinyl repair. Inventory turns over daily, and each store leans into its own local scene.

What can I buy, sell, or trade here?

Books, movies, music, and games. On vinyl, the focus is used pop-rock from the '60s through the '80s, which sells best - but they take most genres. Blues, jazz, R&B, hip-hop and newer music are all sought after. Classical is the one they're cautious on.

How does Bookmans value a trade-in?

"We offer about half of what we think we'll sell the vinyl for as trade-in value. The cash value offered is then half of the trade value, which equates to about a quarter of our expected selling price. Our pricing is based on data from Discogs and how specific genres perform at our store."

Can I bring a sample first?

Yes - bring in a small sample of your collection and they'll make an offer on it, which gives you a sense of what the rest might be worth before you haul everything in.
