Little Axe Records Springfield

Little Axe Records Springfield opened in 2019 as a second location for the label founded by Warren Hill. The shop carries cassettes and books, with a focus on garage music. Little Axe Records operates as both a retail space and a record label that reissues small pressings of primarily international music. The label originated in 2011 when the original Mississippi Records split.

The cassette side of Little Axe has roots in a self-published Montreal magazine called $2 that ran from 2002 to 2006, each issue accompanied by a mixtape. Today, new mix tapes are created periodically and often feature geographically themed selections. The Springfield location is situated at 325 Main Street and welcomes visitors interested in independent music and label releases.
