Record store: Mount Holly Records
FAQ
Could you outline your criteria for grading vinyl records and your process for evaluating and making offers on large collections?
We practice strict adherence to the Goldmine methodology and focus on a VG+ and above quality rating. We typically visit locations housing large collections. Our smaller store makes it difficult to bring these large collections to us during business hours. House calls are usually scheduled Monday-Wednesday. If an agreement is made for purchase, we offer cash on the spot and cart it away.
Are there specific artists or labels you're currently looking to purchase, and are there any types of records you usually don't accept?
LP collections containing predominantly Rock, Jazz, reggae, punk, heavy metal are of interest. 45s in original picture sleeves and some cassettes, depending on the artist, are also considered. We shy away from Classical, folk, pop, big band given inventory levels are sufficient in these genres.
Do I need to schedule an appointment to sell a large collection, or can I drop by? What are the best times for this?
Smaller collections—200 LPs and below—can be dropped off at our shop during business hours on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. We’d prefer advance notice but are open to unannounced visits.
What types of music media are you currently buying and trading?
We're currently buying and trading for rock, jazz, reggae, and hip hop/rap LPs. We don't sell 78s but occasionally take in 45s with original picture covers intact.
