Interview with Audiophil's Records
Audiophil's is a name that states its priorities up front. What's the story behind the shop?
Record hunting is just something we like to do, so we finally just jumped in and opened our own so we get first dibs.
How would you describe the store and its taste in your own words?
Eclectic collection for diggers.
Who comes through the door in Joliet - and what do they tend to hunt for?
We carry all genres and "filler," so it's always surprising what people are looking for or grab on a whim because the cover is cool.
What genres or corners of the shop are you proudest of?
We often hear we are organized and things are easy to find. I am always happy to hear.
What's been quietly strong lately?
CDs! And lucky for us we have room for them now since we moved in 2024.
When someone wants to sell records, what's the best way to start - and what makes a collection an easy yes?
Condition makes an easy yes. Doesn't matter if it's the best, most expensive album; if the condition is poor it's worthless. When someone wants to sell their collection, they should give us a call to set up an appointment for Phil to meet with them.
What do you wish more people knew about the shop?
Just find us downtown Joliet! Parking is free.
First visit to Audiophil's - what should someone dig through first?
New arrivals. That is a mixed bag of whatever Phil has just gotten out for us. Could be anything from jazz to metal depending on what we've had come in. Phil turns over weekly for us.
