I'd describe us as a collector's record store that's welcoming to everyone. Whether you're buying your very first LP or hunting for a rare original pressing, our goal is the same: offer accurately graded records, fair prices, and honest advice. We've spent more than 30 years building trust, and that reputation comes from consistency. People know that when they buy from us, the record will be exactly as described.

You buy all genres in NM- condition, with VG+ working for desirable artists that still hold value. How did that condition-first buying approach take shape?

Condition is everything in this business. A great album isn't worth much if it's noisy or damaged. Early on, we realized collectors would rather wait for a cleaner copy than settle for a mediocre one. To us, it's all about the listening experience. It keeps our inventory strong and gives customers confidence in every purchase.

You'll do on-site evaluations depending on the collection's size and location. How much does that flexibility matter to your sellers?

It matters a great deal. Some collections are simply too large or valuable to move, especially if someone is downsizing or settling an estate. Being willing to travel lets us evaluate records where they are, answer questions in person, and make the process much easier for the seller. It removes a lot of stress and results in a more accurate evaluation.

The name says a lot. How central is the audiophile, condition-conscious side to the shop?

It's at the heart of everything we do. 'Audiophile' isn't just about expensive pressings, it's about respecting the music. We carefully inspect, grade, clean, and price every record with the listener in mind. Whether it's a rare Mobile Fidelity pressing or a $10 classic rock album, we want customers to know exactly what they're getting.

What do your Orange County customers reach for most?

Classic rock will probably always be number one, but Orange County collectors have broad tastes. We see strong demand for jazz, while soul and hip hop are very popular. We see soundtracks, audiophile reissues, and quality original pressings as staples. Lately there's also been tremendous interest in newer artists on vinyl, especially limited editions and colored pressings, so we're doing everything to stay on top of that.

What comes through in Southern California collections that surprises you?

The variety. One day it's a lifetime jazz collection filled with original Blue Notes, the next it's punk, new wave, or obscure private press records from local bands. Southern California has such a deep music history that collections often contain records you simply don't see in other parts of the country.

What makes a collection an easy yes when it comes in?

Original owner, clean records, and records that have been cared for. If someone stored their collection properly, kept the sleeves in good shape, and avoided heavy wear, that's a great start. We also love collections that reflect someone's passion, whether it's jazz, classical, rock, or soul, because they're usually thoughtfully assembled.
