Westsider Rare & Used Books has run on the Upper West Side for more than fifty years, and it keeps a separate phone line just for its record side — a sign of how seriously the vinyl, CD, and cassette stock is treated alongside the shelves of books. The collection leans into opera, Broadway, jazz, and blues, with staff able to point out rarer finds tucked into the bins.

The shop buys and trades records and collections, but with conditions: "DVDs/CDs/LPs must be undamaged and in the original case," and they ask sellers to call ahead to set up a visit rather than walk in cold. They're upfront that they can't guarantee taking an entire collection, so it's worth a call before hauling boxes in.

Open all seven days from 10am to 7pm, it's as much a browsing spot as a selling stop, with the record side folded into a much larger used-book operation.
