Rock N' Roll Land

Record store in Green Bay, WI

Rock N' Roll Land on Military Avenue is one of Green Bay's focused music shops: records, CDs, and audio gear are the point, with little filler around the edges. The store's singles reputation comes from a large club collection bought years ago, but the broader identity is wide-ranging: indie rock, Americana, roots music, country, pop, and whatever else keeps the bins moving.

For sellers, the practical note is simple: Rock N' Roll Land buys collections regularly, usually Tuesday through Friday from 11am to 5pm. Bringing records in is best, though pickup can sometimes be arranged when a collection is difficult to move. Water damage is the main condition problem they cannot work with.

Interview with Rock N' Roll Land

Rock N' Roll Land has built a reputation that reaches well beyond Green Bay; people talk about your obscure electronic singles collection at the state level. How did that specialty develop?

Was not aware of that, I bought 8000 singles 8 or 9 years ago that came from a club. I love that people like our singles selection.

Dense bins and wall displays reflect the shop's records-first approach.

Records over trinkets seems to be the operating philosophy: vinyl, CDs, and audio gear, no filler. Was that a deliberate stand?

Records for sure, lately New CDs have grown a lot. Need a couple more racks. If it music related we are interested.

Being the only wheelchair-accessible record shop in Green Bay matters to people. Was accessibility part of the plan from day one?

I am happy we are wheelchair accessible, we over spaced our aisles on purpose to accommodate all.

Wide browsing aisles inside Rock N' Roll Land
The wider aisles match the shop's note about spacing the room for easier browsing.

The range is wide: obscure electronic, indie punk, country. What do Green Bay regulars actually reach for most?

I am such a fan of Indie rock, Americana anything roots based. But really like all and try to carry a bit of everything. I love being able to guide people to get something unfamiliar.

What's been quietly growing in the bins lately?

POP didn't see that coming it's been great.

If someone in Wisconsin wants to sell records or equipment, what's the best way to start, and what makes a collection an easy yes?

We buy collections all the time, what works best is bringing them in, some cases that's hard to do then I can make arrangements to come to them. We buy Tue. - Fri. 11am - 5pm

What condition problems come up most in collections from Wisconsin basements?

Water Damage, so sad to see. We just can't do anything with those.

First visit to Rock N' Roll Land: what should someone dig through first?

New Arrivals always the freshest goodies. We add to it daily
