Interview with Endless Treasures Gifts & Collectibles

How records became central to the shop

We have been open about five years. I’ve always had a love for music. We were getting a lot of request from customers for vintage vinyl records. We buy a lot of collections from estates and the record side of our business increased much. Over half of our sales are now records.

What shoppers find in the bins

We try to have something for everyone with thousands of records in store. We carry a lot of records that you won’t see in other record stores in Springfield. We also usually have cheaper prices and are happy to negotiate when customers buy multiple items. We buy most collections that we look at. We strive to have a large and wide variety in stock.

Vintage equipment, estate collections, and prices

We do get vintage equipment in store on a regular basis. We have sold about twenty fully restored vintage Magnavox consoles from the 1960’s & 70’s and have made several great repeat customers from those. Collection values have a wide range. Sometimes I have to explain to people looking to sell inherited records that just because an artist sold a lot of records in the 1960’s doesn’t mean that they have a large following today. I see a lot of  classic country records and we probably have the largest selection of country artists in the Springfield Missouri area. Prices are about condition and supply and demand. If I have five of the same record it usually means there is not a high demand for that record and the value is lower. I sometimes have to explain this to sellers.

Collectibles beyond music

We like to have a variety of other collectibles and items in our store such as cassettes, DVDs, CD’s VHS, 8-tracks, comic books, toys, books, glassware and more. A lot of times we will have couples or families come in and only one of them are into records, so it’s good to have other items for the people to shop for that are not record people yet!
