Jammin' Nuggets Music
Record store in Sedalia, MO
115 S Ohio Ave, Sedalia, MO 65301, Sedalia, MO 65301
Jammin Nuggets Music is in Sedalia, a town with a deep American music history, but James says the shop’s day-to-day demand is broader and more current than visitors might assume. Standard record-store staples move, but harder metal and modern outlaw country have both shown real strength.
Interview with Jammin Nuggets Music
Sedalia is tied to American music history, from Scott Joplin to the ragtime festival. Does that past show up in the life of the shop?
Yes and no we do get some rag but it's kinda a forgotten style around here.
Who comes through: locals, festival visitors, or people driving between Kansas City and the Ozarks?
Mostly local but we do get some pretty good mix of out of towners.
What do your regulars hunt for most, and what sells in Sedalia that might surprise people?
Pretty much the standard fair of the records everyone is always looking for. The surprise is the harder metal like black, Stoner & Doom
Which section has been quietly strong lately?
The Modern outlaw country
Do collections come in with real Missouri history, records from family farms and small-town homes?
I guess collections are really varied some have the history but a lot are kinda basic or clean outs
If someone wants to sell records, what is the best first step, and what makes a collection worth the look?
Reach out to us by phone, email, walk in. It might sound generic but almost every collection is worth a look. Now as far as buying that is a different story
What condition problems do sellers most often underestimate?
Condition of the media and cover. Scratches, mold, missing covers missing lp etc
